A little about our Chief Instructor, Keith Fisher:
Fisher Arms' Chief Instructor, and Chief Range Safety Officer is Keith Fisher.
Keith is not only an NRA Certified Instructor, he has also been appointed by the NRA as a Training Counselor, giving him the authority, and privilege of teaching experienced shooters to be NRA Certified Instructors. Keith is also an NRA certified Shotgun COACH. The difference between an instructor, and a coach is that an instructor teaches you how to shoot safely, a coach guides athletes to excellence.
Keith is a graduate of Massad Ayoob's intensive 40 hour MAG 40 The Armed Citizens Rules Of Engagement course, This course consisted of 20 hours of shooting instruction, where Keith qualified with a score of 296 out of a possible 300 points. The other 20 hours was learning about the legal, moral, and ethical use of a firearm in self defense, in which Keith scored a perfect 100% on the final exam.
Next, Keith attended and qualified MAG 30, a 3 day, 30 hour advanced shooting course, with 3,000 shots fired in 3 days. Then Keith attended and qualified for the Massad Ayoob Group's Instructor Course (MAG-IC) another 30 hour course to learn how to teach the advanced shooting methods used, and in some cases, developed by, Massad Ayoob. Keith is one of only two Massad Ayoob Group Staff Instructors in the State of Missouri! (As far as I'm aware)
Massad Ayoob is a world renown firearms instructor to both police, and civilians who lawfully carry a firearm for self defense. He has written several highly recognized books, writes for several firearms related magazines, he has been a law enforcement officer since 1972, and has served as an expert witness in self defense cases since 1979.
Keith has also attended a training session with Missouri's Tim Oliver. Mr. Oliver was one of the people, along with Attorney Kevin Jamison, who were instrumental in getting our concealed carry law passed in the Missouri Legislature. Keith has qualified by NRA Standards, as an Expert in the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program with a pistol.
Keith is also a "RangeMaster" (Tom Givins) Certified MASTER Defensive Pistol Instructor, and a RangeMaster Defensive Shotgun Instructor, learning even more skills, and teaching methods.
Keith has drawn from all of this training, along with his years of handgun experience, including IPSC & IPDA competition, to develop a very comprehensive Concealed Carry Course to help you become not only competent, but confident that you will be able to call upon the training you received to survive a violent encounter.
Never one to be satisfied with the education that he can pass on to his students, Keith has also attained Instructor status with both the Red Cross, and American Heart Association, (But no longer teaches Red Cross Classes)
Lastly, Keith has several courses that have been approved by the State of Missouri Department of Public Safety to teach to law enforcement officers under the P.O.S.T. program.
Hi, I'm Keith Fisher. I look forward to helping you to learn whatever aspect of the shooting sports, or of the defensive use of a firearm, to the best of your ability. I enjoy what I'm doing, and that enjoyment will rub off on you while you are learning.
You will not have to worry about being intimidated, or belittled in my classroom. I want you to feel at ease, that is the best way for you to learn. Be prepared to have a little fun in any of my classes.
There will not be anything such as "You have to use this gun, and my style of shooting." I fully realize that not every person can handle a .45, and not every student can shoot a gun without flinching, I will help you to become as proficient as possible in the short time we will have together, without making you feel like you have been forced to use my methods when you feel they are not for you. I will introduce you to several shooting concepts, and help you determine which work best for you.
I'll plant the seeds and then hopefully you will run with it and either seek more instruction, or keep practicing until you are the marksman you want to be.
As it stands today, I have trained with 7 professional firearms trainers affiliated with the NRA to achieve my status, and have taken 6 Concealed Carry classes to learn how these 6 different instructors teach it and have taken what I consider to be the best techniques of each, added my own 2 cents worth and this is what I bring to the table.
I believe the versatility of my training has helped me to offer among the most comprehensive training options offered by any firearms instructor in the St Louis Area, being trained to teach all aspects of using a Rifle, Shotgun, or Pistol, for defense, or pleasure. As a person who teaches other people how to shoot, and also the repercussions that can happen as a result of your actions with a firearm, I take my responsibility to having the best information and training that I can get, to help me, help you.
See you in the classroom.
Thanks for considering Fisher Arms,
Keith
